Somatic work is everywhere.
But what does it actually mean to bring the mind and body together in psychotherapy?
Psychotherapists have an important opportunity to incorporate more health, body awareness, movement, and embodied experience into clinical work. But doing somatic work skillfully requires more than adding a breathing exercise or asking a client to notice their body.
This introductory workshop is the beginning of a conversation.
Together, we’ll explore somatics as a field, its place within psychotherapy, and what psychotherapists need to understand when bringing mind-body practices into clinical work.
We’ll consider how somatic approaches can extend traditional psychotherapy—including attention to movement, physical health, embodied awareness, physiology, and the lived experience of the body—while maintaining clinical intention, appropriate scope, and measurable treatment goals.
This is an introduction to the Mind Move Somatic Integration Method, a developing framework for psychotherapists interested in bringing more of the body into the therapy room.
